THE REAL Housewife Teresa Giudice & husband Joe Indicted On 39 Federal Fraud Charges in NJ

Two stars of the Bravo television show “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” were indicted Monday on federal fraud charges.

Teresa Giudice, 41, and her husband, Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice, 43, were accused of exaggerating their income while applying for loans before their TV show debuted in 2009 — then hiding how well they were doing in a bankruptcy filing after their first season aired.

The combustible couple, who live in Montville Township, were charged in a 39-count indictment with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud.

“Everyone has an obligation to tell the truth when dealing with the courts, paying their taxes and applying for loans or mortgages,” U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said. “That’s reality.”

There was no immediate comment from Bravo about the plight of the Jersey girl, who is one of the five titular housewives whose lavish lifestyles and crass behavior are chronicled in a series now in its fifth season.

Their lawyers — each has their own — did not return phone calls for comment.

But expect cameras aplenty when the Giudice’s appear in court Tuesday to face the music.

According to the indictment, they submitted fraudulent mortgage and other loan applications from 2001 through 2008, a year before their show made its debut on Bravo.

“The indictment returned today alleges the Giudices lied to the bankruptcy court, to the IRS and to a number of banks,” Fishman said.

Joe Giudice failed to file tax returns for the years 2004 through 2008, when he is alleged to have earned nearly $1 million.

And when his wife filed for a mortgage loan of $121,000 in 2001, she falsely claimed she worked as an executive assistant, submitted fake W-2 forms and fake paystubs as part of the ruse, the indictment said.

In their October 2009 petition for bankruptcy protection, the couple concealed businesses they owned, rental income they received, and Teresa Giudice’s true income from the “Real Housewives,” the indictment states.

Teresa Giudice’s troubles aren’t likely to cause any of her caustic castmates to shed any tears.

Manipulative and loud, she has become the villain of the quintet — a group that included at one point sisters Dina and Caroline Manzo, whose father-in-law, Albert (Tiny) Manzo was executed mob style in August 1983.

FBI Surveillance Tapes: Nationwide child prostitution sweep rescues 105 kids, arrests 150 pimps from 70 cities including Atlantic City

FBI Surveillance Tape

In raids across the country, 105 youngsters were rescued from prostitution by officers, who also arrested 150 alleged pimps, the FBI announced Monday.

Mostly all girls, the minors ranged in age from 13 to 17, and one girl told authorities she had starting turning tricks at 11. Underage prostitutes often work venues such as the Super Bowl, NCAA play-offs and tourist hotspots such as New Jersey’s Atlantic City, authorities said.

“Many times the children that are taken in in these types of criminal activities are children that are dissaffected, they are from broken homes, they may be on the street themselves,” acting Executive Assistant Director Kevin Perkins said Monday at a news conference in Washington, D.C.

Many of the pimped-out youths are runaways from foster care, who never get reported as missing. Others are troubled teens recruited by exploiters who promise a glamorous escape from being homeless, authorities said.

“A lot of these kids feel like they are in love, and therefore many of them will go back, so it’s not only important that they get help, but they need a specialized kind of help,” said Ernie Allen, president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Operation Cross Country 6 was carried out for three days, beginning Friday. More than 2,500 state, local and federal agents in 76 cities participated.

The FBI also released raw video showing unidentified adults being handcuffed and taken into custody, as well as surveillance footage from hidden cameras in motels showing underage girls and their clients shortly before authoritites swooped in.

The arrests occurred in cities including Atlantic City, N.J., New Haven, Conn., Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and Detroit.

The sweeps are part of the FBI’s Innocence Lost National Initiative, which was started in 2003. More than 2,200 children have been freed from forced prostitution, the agency says. And 1,000 adults have been convicted of endangering and exploiting children.

Award-winning music video director jailed for 90 years for fathering six children with his own daughters

An award-winning music director found guilty of fathering children with his daughters will spend the rest of his life in jail.

Aswad Ayinde, 55, of Paterson, NJ, was sentenced to 50 years in prison Friday after being found guilty in the second of five expected trials in which he is accused of repeatedly raping his six daughters, resulting in six children being fathered. Mr. Ayinde was found guilty in his latest trial of having intercourse with a daughters when she was as young as eight-years-old. The second sentence adds to the 40 year sentence Mr Ayinde received in a 2011 trial for sexually assaulting a separate daughter.

Mr. Ayinde is known for directing the music video for the Fugees 1996 smash hit ‘Killing Me Softly.’

In a disturbing disclosure during his first trial, Mr. Ayinde’s former wife said he was trying to create a ‘pure family bloodline’ by impregnating his daughters. He even claimed during a pre-trial hearing before the first trial that ‘the world was going to end, and it was just going to be him and his offspring and that he was chosen.’

In this latest trial, it was revealed that Mr. Ayinde began having intercourse with his second daughter from the time she eight-years-old, impregnating her four times.

Press Release for “Terminator”-Like Contact Lens Lets You Read Emails Before Your Eyes

high-tech-contact-lens-537x402

Live data that streams directly before your eyes à la The Terminator sounds like the stuff of science fiction, but researchers are thisclose to making it a reality. In a study published in the December 2011 issue of the Journal of Micromechanics and MicroengineeringUniversity of Washington researchers demonstrated the safety of such a device by testing it in the eye of a rabbit. Although the prototype contained only a pixel of information, which appears as a tiny dot of light, scientists say it’s a proof of concept that could lead to superimposed emails and other messages in your line of sight. Talk about hands-free communication.

SCANNING IN PROCESS

Developed through a partnership with Aalto University in Finland, the “bionic” contact uses metal circuits only a few nanometers thick, or roughly one-thousandth the width of a human hair. An on-lens antenna draws radio-frequency radiation from an external source before transferring the energy to the integrated circuit for storage. The lens then transmits the information to a transparent sapphire chip that contains a single micro-LED, just one-third of a millimeter in diameter.

The “bionic” contact uses metal circuits only a few nanometers thick, or one-thousandth the width of a human hair.

The researchers faced more than their share of hurdles, however. The human eye, with its minimum focal distance of several centimeters, cannot resolve objects on a contact lens, which means the team had to incorporate a series of micrometer-scale Fresnel lenses—multi-part lenses first used in lighthouses—to help focus the images.

Significant improvements also have to be made before remotely powered high-resolution displays are fully realized. “Although we could power our system in free space from more than a meter, operating distances on the rabbit eye were reduced to the centimeter range,” saysBabak Parviz, an associate professor of electrical engineering at the University of Washington and a co-author of the paper. “We are working to reduce the power consumption of individual pixels.”

If successful, the lens could receive data from external platforms like cellphones and provide real-time notifications of important events. As contact-lens-based biosensors become more advanced, it could even monitor physiological anomalies like a diabetic patient’s glucose level.

“If such displays were successfully deployed,” Parvis adds, “they would fundamentally change the nature of interaction between humans and visual information.”

Let’s hope Skynet isn’t listening.
